Acceptable Use Policy
Namos Notes is for people who write and send to readers who asked to hear from them. These rules keep email reaching inboxes for everyone. If you use Namos Notes, you agree to them.
What is allowed
- Sending newsletters and updates to people who signed up or clearly asked to receive them.
- Importing a list of your own subscribers, when each person agreed to hear from you.
- Publishing posts on your public page for anyone to read.
- Promoting your own work, products and services to your own readers.
What is not allowed
- Spam. That means sending to people who did not ask for your email.
- Phishing, scams, fraud or anything meant to trick people into giving up money or private information.
- Illegal content, or content that exploits or endangers children. We report this to the authorities.
- Harassment, threats, hate or content that targets a person or group.
- Deceptive sender names or subjects, including pretending to be another person, brand or Namos Notes itself.
- Buying, renting or scraping email lists, or adding people who never signed up.
- Malware, or links that lead to harmful or deceptive pages.
- Creating more than one account to get around limits, reviews, pauses or a suspension.
- Hiding what you are sending, for example with link shorteners that disguise the destination.
Consent and list rules
- Only email people who gave you permission. Keep a record of how and when they agreed.
- Every email you send must include a working unsubscribe link and your mailing address. Namos Notes adds these.
- Honor unsubscribes right away. Do not re-add someone who left.
- Do not email addresses that have bounced or complained. Namos Notes blocks these for you.
- When you import a list, you confirm that every person on it opted in to hear from you.
Complaint and bounce limits
Email providers judge senders by how many readers mark a message as spam and how many addresses do not exist. We watch both for every account. Defaults today:
- Spam complaints: we warn you at 0.05% of delivered email and pause sending at 0.1%(1 complaint in every 1,000 emails) once there is enough sending to judge fairly.
- Bounces: we warn you at 3% and pause sending at 5% of email sent.
- If several different people report the same message while it is waiting to go out, we may hold it until we have looked at it.
These limits can change as providers change their rules. Staying well under them is the goal, not reaching them.
What happens when the rules are broken
We usually go in this order, but we may skip steps when the harm is serious.
- Warning. We tell you what we saw and what to fix.
- Pause. Sending is paused while we review. Your account and your list stay safe.
- Suspension. Your account is locked until the problem is resolved.
- Termination. Your account is closed. You can export your own subscriber list and posts.
If we terminate an account for abuse, we do not refund payments. Creating a new account to continue after a suspension or termination is itself a violation.
How to report abuse
If you got an email sent through Namos Notes that broke these rules, use the report form. Every email we send also has a "Report this email" link in its footer.
Reports are reviewed by a person. We do not share who reported a message with the sender.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product and email rules change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
