Privacy Policy
Namos Notes helps writers publish posts and send them by email to readers who asked for them. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We do not run ads and we do not sell your data.
Who this covers
- Writers who have an account and publish through Namos Notes.
- Subscribers whose email address a writer has added or who signed up on a writer's page.
- Visitors who read a public page, join the waitlist or send us an abuse report.
What we collect from writers
- Your sign-in details. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, our sign-in provider. You can use an email code, a password, or Google sign-in. If you use Google, Google shares your name and email address with Clerk and with us. We never see your Google password.
- Your account details: your name, your email address and your role on the account.
- Your publications and posts: names, descriptions, drafts, published posts, images you upload and the settings for your public page.
- Your subscriber lists, including anything you import, and the settings and sending history for your email.
What we collect about subscribers
Writers own their lists. For each subscriber we store:
- The email address and, if given, a name, tags and any custom fields the writer set up.
- Where the person came from, such as a signup form, an import or the API.
- Their status: pending, active, unsubscribed, bounced or complained.
- A consent record: when they agreed, which version of the consent text they saw, and a one-way hash of their network address. The hash cannot be turned back into the address.
If you are a subscriber, the writer who emails you is responsible for how they use your information. Namos Notes processes it for them so they can send you what you asked for.
What we collect from visitors
- Waitlist: your email address, and whether you confirmed it.
- Abuse reports: the reason you pick, anything you write, a link if you give one, and a one-way hash that helps us spot repeat or fake reports.
- Like most web services, our host keeps basic request logs such as network address, page and time, to keep the service running and safe.
How we use information
- To run your account, store your posts and publish your pages.
- To send the emails writers ask us to send, and to confirm signups.
- To handle bounces, spam complaints and unsubscribes so that people who do not want email stop getting it.
- To review abuse reports, protect readers and enforce the Acceptable Use Policy.
- To fix problems and keep the service secure.
We do not show ads. We do not sell your data or your subscribers' data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Email, bounces and unsubscribes
We send email through Amazon SES. When an email is delivered, bounces or is reported as spam, Amazon tells us, and we record it. Addresses that bounce or complain are blocked from future email so they are not mailed again. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and when someone uses it we stop sending to them right away. We keep a record of the unsubscribe, bounce or complaint so we can keep honoring it.
Who helps us run Namos Notes
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores account, publication, post and subscriber data in its D1 database and related services.
- Clerk handles sign-in and account sessions.
- Amazon Web Services (SES) delivers email.
- Google provides sign-in if you choose Google, and serves the font used on our pages.
These companies handle data only to provide their service to us. Otherwise we share information only when the law requires it or to protect people from harm.
Cookies
We use cookies only for signing in and keeping you signed in (set by Clerk). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep things
We keep account data while your account is open. Blocklist records for bounces, complaints and unsubscribes are kept so the person is not mailed again. When you ask us to delete data, we delete it unless we must keep a record for legal reasons or to keep honoring an unsubscribe.
Your choices
- Export. Writers can download their subscriber list as a file from the dashboard at any time. You can ask us for the rest of your data too.
- Deletion. You can ask us to delete your account and the data in it, or, as a subscriber, to delete the information held about you. Subscribers can also unsubscribe from any email with one click.
- Correction. Writers can edit their details in the dashboard. Ask us if you need help with anything else.
To ask for an export or deletion, use the report form and tell us what you need. We may ask you to prove the account or email address is yours.
Children
Namos Notes is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as encrypted connections and limited access. No online service can promise perfect security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
